Critical reception[]
Template:Album ratings Classick received generally positive reviews from contemporary music critics. "Cleaning Out My Closet" was especially praised for Haze's vulnerability and lucidness.
Sarah Grant of Consequence of Sound gave mixed assessment, opining, "Haze has a lot of layers to work through before she finds her voice and part of that work might involve investigating complicated relationships. The lack of electronic theater—emphatic whooshes, the fragmented vocals—that so many of her peers utilize in favor of standard story-arc emceeing suggests that Haze invests more in her poetry than her producer." Grant continued, "Given her penchant for honesty, a minimalist approach is a promising model for this breakout artist."[2] Pitchfork editor Lindsay Zoladz praised the track "Cleaning Out My Closet," and added of how the project "further affirms the arrival of an important new artist with vast potential."[3]
NME's Tom Howard named Haze's project to be "more introspective" following her Reservation EP.[4] Jessica Hopper from Spin was more unimpressed, remarking, "it is hard to celebrate the young MC’s sophomore mixtape as anything other than an exciting new mutation of post-Nicki Minaj feminist rap." Aside from "Cleaning Out My Closet," she felt that the remainder tracks were "a little uneven, in terms of both temperament and quality."[5]
